New grandbaby

My new grandbaby arrived last Thursday. Jesslyn Claire came home today. We are all so excited to have another little girl to love in the family.

Finally bought a new camera. After doing lots of research I decided to buy a Canon.... got to the store and bought a Kodak easy share with extended zoom. I was able to take and delete pics in the store with it and I couldn't figure the canon out. I decided "easy" was important for me. Rusty and Dixie are my practice subjects until the new grandbaby arrives.

Papa and Nanny's quilt

I spent the day Thursday with my daddy while my mama was volunteering at the hospital. I did a little plundering and found the quilt my great grandma made for them before they got married. She did it all by hand and embroidered the love birds names on it. So sweet! I hope to photograph all of mama's quilts someday. Papa does not like my plundering LOL so only got pics of this one so far.

Dear Goodwill,

I love you so. Thanks for coming to my town. Where else would I find red picture frames and an apple thingymajig for my guest room and friendly strangers to discuss how sad it is that I'm taking those teddy bear prints out. I found tiny soft denim overalls for baby boo too. The English tin has quotes from Shelly, Shakespeare etc and sweet birds and flowers.....that 49cent tin has made me smile all week. Now Goodwill, I did return yesterday and only found a book and some good conversation.......but that's okay I still love U!

A wee bit of sewing

Jessica's first baby shower is tomorrow. I made a minkee rag quilt and tried a onesie dress tutorial I found online. The blanket came together pretty well, but I had some tense moments with the onesie dress. I think I will change some things when I make another one. Anyway I hope Baby Boo will like what Mimi whipped up for her.

Project Runway is back

and my world is much better. I did have to break my "no Lifetime" tv rule. I loved the Masters show and thought Daniel's dress was awesome. I was pulling for Sweet P and think Diane V. loved her too. I thought there were some great dresses in the PR premiere too. I think it should be a great season.

Falling off the wagon

I have a confession to make. I have been posing on blogger as a quilter. I do enjoy sewing and hope to one day actually finish one of the many quilting projects I have started. This weekend while I was nursing a summer cold I stumbled upon a blog called Vintage Rescue Squad. I spent most of two days reading the entire blog and several other blogs she linked. I made an amazing discovery I AM NOT A Freak.....junkaholics abound and are airing their curbside finds and thrift store treasures in numerous blogs. I am a long time junker,past antique shop owner,major ebayer,auction ticket writer,antique mall space renter,estate seller...well you get the picture. A few years ago I became fed up with ebay and the potential for junk sales dried up in eastern NC, so I swore off junk. I promised myself I wouldn't buy new junk until I got rid of all the stuff in my house and garage. I have pretty much just closed my eyes to the piles of stuff everywhere. I still hit the thrift stores but swore off all yardsales and auctions. I am thinking of opening an etsy shop and going to force myself to start getting ready for a big autumn yard sale, this is huge since I absolutely hate having yardsales and dealing with the local yardsalers!
