Teach a girl to sew

I gave in and let my granddaughter ,JoAnna, try out the featherweight today. She used some scraps from my double delight quilt and made a pillow. I think she did a great job for her first try.

Grandma's Quilt

My Great Grandma Starling made this quilt top for me. I don't know if she had it and added my name when I was born or made it especially for me. She had lots of quilt tops and I have two with my name. I had a longarm quilter to quilt it a few years ago. I wish I had tried to hand quilt it. I love all the bright colors she used.

It's a dog's life.....

Meet Christmas.....rescued from an icy swamp by my son when she was a couple of weeks old.....a few weeks before Christmas. Hence her name...he begged to keep her and swore she was all he wanted for Christmas so when she would cry or make a mess I would say "there's your Christmas". The name stuck. In the past I have had to literally drag this dog inside when the temps dropped below freezing. I have seen her sleep with snow piled around her. Thursday night I left quilt guild early to come home and get her inside for the first time this year. I was surprised to open the back door and see her almost knock me down trying to get into the house. She ran straight to the sofa and has been ensconced there ever since.

Beach Break

I have abandoned Double Delight for a few days at the beach. I thought about packing the featherweight and all that fabric, but decided it would be waiting at home for me when I return. It's very windy and cool here, but I think any kind of day at the beach beats a day somewhere else.

Slowly Delightful

I am trudging along on the Double Delight mystery quilt. I cheated and looked ahead...decided I better make a block and be sure I liked my fabrics.

It's been another dreary day in eastern NC. Rusty and Dixie are so tired of all the sewing and wish their lazy owner would take them outside for some fun.

I can't space my pictures and type right on this blog. Guess I need a crash course in blogger 101.

New Year Quilting

I am determined to learn how to blog this year. I want a record of quilts I work on and plan to upload pictures from my guild. So far blogger makes me feel alot of frustration!
I am starting on Bonnie's (Quiltville) new Double Delight mystery quilt. I am going with these fabrics. I am substituting the dark red for her brown and the gold for her cheddar. I wish I had some cheddar in my stash but can't find any so this will have to do.
